HMCARE mask project showcased at health innovation event
HMCARE’s development of a new type of medical mask with various partners was one of 10 projects showcased at InnoSanté Neuchâtel in Switzerland.
The event brought together different actors from the health, private and public sectors, including patients, to look at health innovation challenges and pioneering solutions to improve diagnosis, personalised care, and resource management in health care. The emphasis was on putting people, caregivers and patients at the heart of digital and organizational transformation in the health system.
HMCARE CEO Thierry Pelet and our manufacturing partner EPSA showed how our innovative medical mask was conceived and produced to do exactly that.
The semi-transparent mask allows a wearer’s facial expressions and smiles to be seen by others, and their words to be better heard or read by the hard of hearing. Improving communication with patients to reduce the stress, fear and isolation patients feel when treated by anonymous medical staff with mask-covered faces — builds empathy and trust for better health care.
The value of such a mask was not lost on healthcare providers and authorities present at the event.
